18 / 03 / 2011 - Precious Life `Climb for Life` on St Patricks Day

Precious Life organised a "Climb For Life" on Slemish Mountain in County Antrim on St Patrick's Day (Thursday 17th March 2011)

A traditional place of pilgrimage, this majestic mountain dominates the landscape in mid-Antrim. Excellent views can be had of the Antrim coastline and Scotland. In the 5th century, when St. Patrick was only a boy, he was held captive as a slave on the slopes of Slemish where he tended herds for his master. He escaped and fled from Ireland. But in a vision, he heard the children of Ireland crying out to him. St Patrick returned to Ireland, preaching the Gospel of Christ and converting the pagan Irish to Christianity. Ever since, Slemish has been a place of pilgrimage in Ireland.

With the numerous abortion threats to our country today, the unborn children of Ireland are now crying out to us. Precious Life made the annual pilgrimage in response to their cries. As we climbed, we prayed for the protection of Ireland's unborn children.

We had t-shirts specially printed for the event. Our pro-life message was seen by many of the thousands of people from across Ireland who had come to make the annual pilgrimage to Slemish.

At the summit, as we looked out across the beautiful green Irish landscape, we thanked God for the success of all Precious Life's work in protecting Ireland from the scourge of abortion.
