24 / 04 / 2009 - Rally for Life to take place in Dublin - 4th July!!!
In 2007 the Rally for Life held in Dublin surpassed all expectations, bringing the largest number of pro-lifers in a decade together in a decade to speak out for unborn children. It was a colourful, exciting event, with a carnival-like atmosphere but it had a very serious message: Keeping Ireland Abortion Free.
Now we are delighted to inform you that we have joined forces with our sister organization, Precious Life, to ensure that the Rally for Life becomes an annual event.
“Youth Defence, Precious Life, and Mother and Child Campaign felt that it was very important that the public, and the government, see a united display every year – one that shows the extent of pro-life support in the country,” said Íde Nic Mhathúna of Youth Defence. “The rallies have been a huge success to date; now we want to build on that. It’s going to be a day for young and old, for families and children, for people all over the country to come together to protect Life.”
Ms Nic Mhathúna said that developments in relation to euthanasia and stem cell research, showed the need for a strong and vocal pro-life movement. “Attacks on the right to life now come in myriad forms, and we need to be informed, prepared and willing to tackle those threats by speaking out and educating the public,” she said. “The Rally will be an important focal point each year; a boost to the pro-life movement, an encouragement to the pro-life majority to get involved, and a chance to grow and strengthen pro-life opposition to abortion, stem cell research and euthanasia.”
The rally organizers said they would be working with “the entire pro-life movement” to ensure a unified effort would bring together everyone against abortion. “We’re looking at some exciting speakers,” said Íde Nic Mhathúna, “and the Rally Committee has thought of some great themes and events to make it a day to remember every year.”
She added that promotional material was being prepared and would be available for widespread distribution very soon. “We’re going to need all hands-on-deck, but we’re confident we can do that,” she said.
