20 / 02 / 2008 - Green Party vote to make killing of unborn children even easier

The Green Party - whose manifesto slogan states "real progress is a just and fair society that leaves a safe and healthy world for our children" - wants to make the killing of unborn children even easier.

The Party voted in favour of easing restrictions in the abortion law in England and Wales at their Spring Conference.

The party's conference in Reading backed removing the rule that two doctors need to give approval. It also supported nurses and midwives killing unborn children at up to three months, and axing restrictions on where the killings can be conducted.

Caroline Lucas, Green MEP for the South East, said "The conference decision is timely, given the current progress of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill through Parliament" She said this is an ideal time to change the 1967 Abortion Act.
