Victory for Unborn Children
Precious Life celebrate the success of the Vote for Life Campaign
A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped in our Vote for Life Campaign for the 2011 Assembly Election.
After weeks of hard work our campaign has produced fantastic results. All the votes have now been counted and the majority of the politicians elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly are pro-life. Praise God, our unborn children will continue to have a strong voice in the next Assembly.
Everyone at Precious Life worked around the clock on the Campaign. In the weeks running up to the election, Precious Life volunteers were out everyday tirelessly canvassing for life. They gave up their mornings, afternoons and evenings to drop leaflets through the letterbox of homes across the whole of Northern Ireland.
We had pro-lifers bombarding the political parties and their candidates with telephone calls, emails and letters, asking them to oppose abortion and defend the right-to-life of our unborn children.
Precious Life sent letters to all 218 candidates asking them to make an election pledge to protect the right of unborn children and oppose any attempts to legalise abortion in Northern Ireland. It was so encouraging to receive back the large numbers of replies from individual candidates and Party Leaders all giving a life-affirming YES to the pledge.
We wrote personal letters to the Irish Cardinal, all the Northern Ireland Bishops, and every Parish Priest in Northern Ireland encourgaing them to remind people of the moral obligation to vote only for pro-life candidates.
We also brought our VOTE FOR LIFE Campaign to Queens University in Belfast to encourage young and first-time voters to vote for pro-life candidates. We showed them the importance of electing politicians who will uphold the right to life.
Our website was receiving hundreds of ‘hits’ daily as people logged on to check the party policies and candidates views. Our phones were ringing off the hook with people contacting our office asking for advice on which candidates are pro-life
We even had pro-abortion candidates phoning us to complain because we ‘named and shamed’ them on our website’s Voters Guide. We made no apology for exposing the ‘wolves in sheeps clothing’ - those candidates who claimed to be opposed to abortion but would not make the pledge to protect the right to life of unborn children
On the eve of Election Day Precious Life held a ‘Prayer walk’ around the Northern Ireland Assembly building at Stormont, to prayer that pro-life politicians would be elected.
And God answered our prayers and our efforts. This election result reflects the strong pro-life views of the majority of people here. Our Vote for Life Campaign was a great success. We have the election pledges from newly elected politicians that they will speak out and defend the right to life of our unborn children in the Assembly
After the election we will continue lobbying these politicians to remind them of their promises to resist any attempt to legalising abortion in Northern Ireland
Once again precious Life VOTE FOR LIFE campaign has shown the politicians that the protection of our unborn children is the most important issue to the people of Northern Ireland.
Yours in life,
