More than 300,000 unborn babies are being killed across the UK each year
Precious Life has condemned pro-abortion politicians across the UK for presiding over and facilitating the killing of over 300,000 babies per year.
This damning indictment follows the publication of the latest abortion statistics for England & Wales, which revealed 278,740 babies were killed by abortion. This figure for the year 2023 has only been released in January 2026 after an 18 month delay.
The number of abortions across the UK have now reached a new all-time high since records began.
The most recent yearly statistics available for Scotland (year ending December 2024) revealed 18,710 babies were killed by abortion.
And the most recent yearly statistics available for Northern Ireland (year ending March 2025) revealed 2,899 babies were killed by abortion.
This means more than 300,000 unborn babies a year are being killed across the UK.
One-in-three of pregnancies are ended by abortion.
Commenting on the figures, Director of Precious Life Bernadette Smyth, said: “One baby killed by abortion is one too many, but the killing of over 300,000 babies a year is truly shocking and horrific. On average, 800 babies are being killed EVERY DAY across the UK. 33 babies killed EVERY HOUR!
"The pro-abortion politicians in the Westminster Parliament and the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland Assemblies have the blood of these 300,000 babies on their hands.
"It is time to stop killing babies. The UK Abortion Act must be completely overturned and replaced with new legislation that protects babies in their mother's wombs. And in Northern Ireland, Section 9 must be repealed and replaced with legislation that restores personhood and full legal protection for all unborn babies.
"Every child deserves to be protected from the barbaric crime of abortion, and every woman facing an unexpected pregnancy deserves genuine, life-affirming support."
Bernadette Smyth concluded, "Precious Life will continue to be a voice for unborn babies wherever and whenever their lives are in danger. We will never rest until abortion is not only illegal, but unthinkable."
