Victory for Life

Precious Life welcomes the decision by U.S. retail giant Costco to refuse to dispense the abortion drug Mifepristone at its pharmacies—a major victory in the growing movement to protect unborn children and push back against the culture of death promoted by the abortion industry.

This life-affirming choice comes after consistent pressure from pro-life advocates who rightly called on the company to prioritise ethical and responsible business practices. Groups in the U.S., such as Alliance Defending Freedom and Association of Mature American Citizens, have demonstrated what can be achieved when ordinary people and organisations stand up for the sanctity of human life.
While this is a significant step forward, the broader battle to end abortion, especially so-called "medication abortion", continues. Abortion pills like Mifepristone are used to end the lives of innocent, unborn babies in their earliest stages of development, often with little medical oversight. This not only ends a human life but also harms women physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Despite Costco’s welcome decision, abortion pills remain dangerously accessible through other major pharmacy chains, telemedicine, and the internet. Pro-abortion forces are working tirelessly to normalise and expand access to these deadly drugs, even in States where the law protects the unborn.

Precious Life calls on other companies to follow Costco’s example and reject any involvement in the abortion industry. We also urge our supporters here in Northern Ireland and across the UK to keep raising their voices in defence of the voiceless, and to hold corporations and governments accountable.

The fight for life is far from over, but every victory like this brings us closer to a world where every child is protected, cherished, and loved from the moment of conception.
