Abortion - is it really as simple as "popping a pill?"

Since our formation, Precious Life has stood on the frontlines—fearlessly proclaiming what others refuse to acknowledge: the abortion pill not only ends the life of an unborn baby, but it also places women in real and serious danger.

Now, a powerful new report from the United States has vindicated what we have long known and courageously exposed.

Published in April by the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC), the groundbreaking study—"The Abortion Pill Harms Women"—is the most comprehensive research of its kind. Its findings are frightening: 1 in every 10 women who take the abortion pill suffer serious medical complications. These include sepsis, haemorrhaging, infection, and even emergency surgery. Alarmingly, the rate of complications is 22 times higher than what is claimed by the drug’s manufacturers.

 What’s even more concerning is the rapid dismantling of medical safeguards. Regulatory changes now allow abortion pills to be distributed by telehealth and mail, leaving many women without proper supervision or emergency support.

 This growing body of evidence shatters the myth that the abortion pill is “safe and simple.” Precious Life has long warned of this dangerous lie—and now the truth is finally breaking through.

 A UK-Wide Concern

 Across the UK, the picture is just as stark. NHS England data shows that over 11,000 women—an average of 33 every single day—have been admitted to hospital after taking the abortion pill at home or an abortion facility.

Even the NHS’s own website admit they know the wide range of serious complications, including:

- Parts of the unborn baby remaining and needing an operation to remove them

- Heavy bleeding

- Damage to the womb

- Infections, including sepsis

 Left untreated, these conditions can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), infertility, and ectopic pregnancies—placing women at risk not just physically, but emotionally and psychologically.

 Northern Ireland: A Crisis Hidden in Plain Sight

 Here in Northern Ireland, the reality is no less urgent. With the abortion pill responsible for the majority of the 8,490 abortions, women are being put in harm’s way—without being told the true risks.

 That’s why Precious Life is calling on the Northern Ireland Health Minister to come clean and release hospital admission data related to abortion pill complications. The women of Northern Ireland deserve transparency and protection—not silence and neglect.

 Women have the right to be safeguarded from:

* Haemorrhage

* Sepsis

* Infection

* Emergency surgery

* Blood transfusions

* Ectopic pregnancies

* And other life-threatening complications

 At Precious Life, we believe women deserve deserve better than abortion. They deserve support, truth, and alternatives that uphold their dignity and protect their health—not popping pills and abandoned care.

Together, we will continue to amplify the voices of women, shine a light on the truth, and fight for a culture where every life is cherished—born and unborn.

Precious Life will never be silent. We will not stop. Because every woman—and every child—deserves better.
