Pro lifers welcome Satellite Stanton Centre planned to open in Derry

A meeting to welcome a new pregnancy centre to Northern Ireland was held in the City Hotel on Saturday, September 5.

Stanton Healthcare is set to open in Belfast in October, followed by the satellite centre opening in Derry next year.

The service will begin as a resource centre and will offer counselling, maternity and baby supplies, financial support and local referrals for ultrasounds, any medical treatment a pregnant woman needs, legal advice, housing, adoption services and post-abortion support.

Local people who attended the meeting at the City Hotel last Saturday were told that this is a stepping stone to the long term plan to have ultrasound and pregnancy verification services, childbirth and parenting education, and a sexual integrity programme provided at the centre with the expertise of an expanded team of counsellors, nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals in the Stanton Healthcare Centres in Belfast and Derry.

Speaking to the packed room of supporters Caitriona Forde shared ‘the Stanton Vision’:

“Stanton Healthcare is here to close the door of the Marie Stopes Centre in Belfast by making Stanton Healthcare the right choice for women. We will provide the best care and practical support a woman needs to overcome any obstacle to choosing life for her little baby. Stanton Healthcare will do everything that is needed for a woman and her child, not just for the nine months of pregnancy, but for as long as they need us. All services will be provided to our clients at no cost.”

Pat Ramsey MLA (SDLP) attended the meeting to show his support for Stanton Healthcare and took a moment to assure his listeners that he and his fellow pro-life politicians at Stormont will continue in their efforts to protect mothers and their unborn children from abortion in Northern Ireland.

Bernadette Smyth, the director of Precious Life, the leading pro-life group in Northern Ireland, was delighted at the tremendous turnout for the meeting:

“This is a groundbreaking initiative that will build even stronger the culture of life in Northern Ireland. Stanton Healthcare will shine like a beacon of hope for mothers and their unborn children and Precious Life will be behind them every step of the way.

“I encourage everyone to support the Stanton initiative. If everyone did their part, whether that be a little donation every month or volunteering an hour or two of their time, we could all help make the Stanton Vision a reality.”
