Precious Life's "Pro-Life Spiritual Boot Camp" was a great success with many old and new members braving the snowy conditions to attend.

It was a great opportunity for our newer members to meet our established members and learn from our 13 years experience of saving unborn babies form abortion.

Director of Precious Life Bernadette Smyth began the training day by explaining how to physically and spiritually prepare for pro-life work, especially when outside the abortion referral agencies.

She covered all the facts pro-lifers need to know to persuasively and actively defend life:

- the humanity of the unborn child
- the terrible effects abortion has on women
- the illegality of abortion in Northern Ireland
- our legal rights when doing pro-life work on the streets

Catholic evangelist and speaker Ros Powell then instructed us how to engage in the "spiritual battle" against abortion. Quoting Ephesians 6 she said, "..our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. This is why you must take up the full armor of God". She explained that when we try to do pro-life work in our own strength we are useless, but when we hand it over to God then all things are possible.

We ended the Boot Camp with a beautiful holy Mass celebrated by Fr Colm Rafferty. During his homily he congratulated Precious Life for all the life-saving work we do. He said that all those involved in pro-life work had their names written in the Book of Life in Heaven. Fr Rafferty prayed that more and more people would join Precious Life and actively get involved in our work.

Everyone agreed that they had a fantastic prayer-filled day at the 'Boot Camp' and they had received a tremendous 'spiritual boost' to continue our pro-life work the New Year

We are now planning another Boot Camp for April 2011. We'll bring further details next year.
