The abortion statistics for 2009 revealed that the number fell by 50. Even one abortion is one too many but we welcome that fact that 50 fewer Northern Ireland babies have been killed by abortion in England. This is proof that our strategies and campaigns are working. We believe this decline in numbers is a direct result of the educational work we do on the streets and outside the abortion referral agencies in Northern Ireland. Precious Life also welcome the drop in the number of women from the Republic of Ireland having abortions in Britain. The statistics showed the number fell by 178. The figures show that the pro-life battle is being won in Ireland - north and south. This reduction in the number of abortions gives us another reason to celebrate the 'All-Ireland Rally for Life' which will be held in Belfast city centre on 3rd July. These latest statistics give us even more encouragement to continue our work on the streets of Northern Ireland to protect unborn children and vulnerable women from abortion. Our long term goal is - not a reduction in the number of abortions - but the total elimination of abortion so that no unborn child is ever brutally killed again. |
