22 / 05 / 2009 - Precious Life welcomes drop in N. Ireland abortion figures

Precious Life has welcomed the latest government statistics which have shown a drop in the number of women from Northern Ireland having abortions in Britain. The abortion statistics for 2008 revealed that the number fell by 170.

Bernadette Smyth from Precious Life said “Even one abortion is one too many but we welcome that fact that 170 fewer Northern Ireland babies have been killed by abortion in England. This is proof that our strategies and campaigns are working. We believe this decline in numbers is a direct result of the educational work we do on the streets and outside the abortion referral agencies in Northern Ireland.”

Bernadette Smyth concluded “The latest statistics show we are winning the pro-life battle. They give us even more encouragement to continue our work on the streets of Northern Ireland to protect unborn children and vulnerable women from abortion.”
