We were invited by a group of students following our pro-life Information Evening the previous week.
Precious Life had hosted the Information Evening at the Students Union Building on Thursday 13th November. Director of Precious Life, Bernadette Smyth, talked to the students about the development of the unborn child; what abortion does to the unborn child; and the devastating psychological effects that abortion has on women. The students had the opportunity to view pro-life videos "The Silent Scream" and "The Hard Truth", and video testimonies of women suffering after abortion. The evening concluded with a "Questions & Answers" session. Afterwards, a number of students asked if we could help them set up a "Pro-Life Society" in the Universtiy. Precious Life were only too happy to oblige. The following Wednesday, Bernadette and Moira from Precious Life returned to Queens to offer the students help and advice in setting up their "Pro-Life Society". We also provided them with a selection of our leaflets and posters, DVDs, foetal models, "Precious Feet" pin badges, and the assurance of our help and support in the future. The Pro-Life Society at Queen's is committed in their opposition to the murder of innocent children through the atrocities of abortion, and actively strive to uphold the universal human right to life. The principal aim of the Society is to actively oppose the legalisation of abortion in Northern Ireland. Secondary aims will include opposition to euthanasia and any other practices which infringe upon anyone's basic right to life. The Society will hold regular meeting and make available pro-life resources for students. They also plan to organise a series of debates and talks by prominent pro-life speakers. Website and contact details for the Queen's University Pro-Life Society will be available soon. |
