16 / 05 / 2008 - Precious Life lobby MPs at Westminster

Precious Life travelled to London for the National Lobby of Parliament on Wednesday 14th May 2008. This was a vital opportunity to tell our MPs how strongly we feel about the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill and proposed amendments to further liberalise the 1967 Abortion Act and extend it to Northern Ireland. As we marched towards Westminster, we carried placards calling on MPs to respect the views of the people in Northern Ireland.

Inside the Houses of Parliament, we held a meeting with Mark Durkan MP, leader of the SDLP, who reiterated his Party's opposition to the Bill. A planned meeting with Jeffrey Donaldson MP from the DUP had to be postponed due to time restraints.

Speaking under the shadow of 'Big Ben', Bernadette Smyth commented " Our Assembly, our Party Leaders, and the people of Northern Ireland are sending out a clear pro-life message to Westminster. Today, Precious Life bring that message directly to Parliament - Protect our unborn children - Keep abortion out of Northern Ireland! "
