30 / 11 / 2012 - Precious Life`s Pregnancy Centre attacked in Belfast
Pro-life group Precious Life have been advised by police to step up their security after vandals attacked the group’s Crisis Pregnancy Centre in Belfast.

Volunteers arriving at the office of the Belfast Pregnancy Advisory Service this morning found the locks smashed and security glass in the front door damaged.

Director of Precious Life Bernadette Smyth said, “Our volunteers were devastated when they arrived this morning and saw all the damage. They feared the worst but thankfully the toughened glass in the door prevented the vandals from gaining entry to the building."

“We immediately called the police and CSI officers arrived and took fingerprints. They also took away a number of items for forensic evidence. CCTV in the area will also be checked.”

“Those who attacked our centre were clearly intent on doing more damage if they had gained access. They obviously spent a long time in forcefully smashing the lock from the metal door frame.”

Bernadette Smyth concluded, “Precious Life is a voluntary organisation funded entirely from public donations. We provide free counselling to women in crisis pregnancies and give them practical help and support before and after the birth of their babies. But our funds are already seriously low so we are very worried how we will pay for the repair of this damage, and how we will pay for installation of new security measures. But we will not be deterred by this attack. Our vital work to protect unborn children and their mothers will continue.”
