Dana Rosemary Scallon with children from Galway at the launch of Art4Life
Dana Rosemary Scallon has launched the first nationwide children's pro-life art competition in Oranmore in Co Galway, saying that the event was a "wonderful opportunity for children to use their natural creativity to show their love for life".
The competition, Art4Life, is open to all children under 12 years of age, and entrants are asked create a piece of art, be it a painting, a poem, a video, or anything else they can think of, which illustrates the theme "Why Life is precious".
Dana, a former MEP and currently a popular TV talent show judge, will also present the prizes for the art competition at this year's annual Rally for Life in Dublin on July 2nd.
There are 11 prizes to be won and the top prize of a cool 'Flicker' scooter will be presented by Dana on the day.
The Rally for Life has become the largest pro-life event in the country and will take place in Dublin city centre on July 2nd this year. It's theme of 'Celebrating Life' brings thousands together in a great day out for an important cause with live music, facepainting, balloons and great fun for young and old.
"The Rally is always a very joyful, colourful event, with lots of families attending and a real festival atmosphere," said Rebecca Roughneen of the Rally for Life committee. "We're delighted to have this Art4Life competition now incorporated into the Rally and we're looking forward to seeing all the entries pile in."
Entries for Art4Life competition should be sent to: Art4Life, The Life House, 60a Capel Street, Dublin 1, or digital entries may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
